Using Free Vintage Clip Art to Make Easter Crafts

There have been many times my clients have asked whether I knew of any free vintage Easter clip art sources. It used to be that I would have to tell them no, I didn’t. But now with the web becoming so large, there are an amazing number of vintage resources available for no cost. This has been a real help for crafters, who often don’t have extra money to spend on the Easter crafts they make to sell at craft fairs, church bazaars and at online sites, like Etsy.  That means there’s more creativity flowing and more people able to create handmade crafts with a vintage feel, which is a good thing.

Milton Greene Captured Marilyn Monroe Insightfully

One of the most famous black and white photographs of Marilyn Monroe is the shot taken of her by Milton Greene. When people call this photo insightful, it is no exaggeration. It is one of the best pieces of Marilyn Monroe Art that you will find. In it, Marilyn’s face has almost a Mona Lisa quality about it. What exactly is the expression on her face conveying? Her head is raised as if she had, just a moment earlier, been bent over and about to cry. Is this expression, along with her white, tulle skirt an artful representation of perhaps a jilted bride? However, it could also simply be a casual yet unknowing glance. At any rate, the photo reflects a more vulnerable side of Marilyn.

What is a Celtic Harp?

Navigating the history of the term celtic dates many years back and simply means a large number of cultures integrated as a whole and unified by one language. From there you can derive both terms Celtic and harp to form the so-called Celtic harp which is otherwise known as an Irish, folk or lever harp. Celtic harp technically originated from Ireland. A Celtic harp is a big musical instrument which could be played independently or at an orchestra. This harp is strung by wires, guts or nylons. Depending on the taste and preference of its owner, it could produce a very distinctive yet refreshing sound though every harp has its own sound when played. Celtic harps are strung by wires and have a sharply audible sound. Those strung with gut has a more muted sound. Stringed with nylon will yield a softer and quiet sound than the other types of strings and it is most convenient to maintain as the materials are already available.  Playing the Celtic harp always gives a refreshing sound and it could be very romantic too. You will certainly find peace and calmness that worries will vanish at a spur of a moment.

Show off Those Tasty Riffs

I have been hiding a secret from some of my buddies for about 6 months now.  I decided to take up the guitar again, since I haven’t touched it for almost 4 years.  I wasn’t sure what I would do, but I finally found this do it yourself kind of approach called the riff master pro.  I was going to hire a full time tutor, but that just got too expensive.  Besides this program is really good and has really got me back into shape.  I am faster, and know much more than I ever did before.  I cannot wait for them to hear me.

Charm Bracelets Will Always be Loved

In my lifetime I have been given all kinds of jewelry, from simple necklaces to diamond rings; but the piece of jewelry that always brings a smile to my face is my charm bracelet.

Years ago my husband bought me a charm bracelet and then began to present me with charm bracelet jewellery for special events, or just because.  Each charm has meaning to me.

Of course, I also enjoy my bracelet because it’s very pretty and the most girlish, feminine thing I own.  Pricey rings and necklaces have their place, but when it comes to wearing something I enjoy and feel really good in, my charm bracelet is always a first choice.

Photographic Opportunities in Lubec Maine

At the extreme northeast corner of Maine is the little town of Lubec.  This was the embarkation point for my wife and me when we set off to vacation in the northeast and to pursue New England and Canada Photography. A bridge connects Lubec with Campobello Island, which is a part of New Brunswick, Canada.  I spent the majority of my time photographing this beautiful island that offers an abundance of opportunities for nature and scenic images.  If I get the chance to go there again I hope I can spend a little more time exploring the town of Lubec.  There are quaint old churches, fishing docks and boats, and other interesting structures.

An Important School Project

Some of my students have suggested that we make some watercolor landscapes for the annual auction this year to try and make some money for the school. I feel that this is a very good idea and that it would actually be possible to do this because we have a lot of art supplies and the students are very good at painting. I have organized a meeting with some of the parents and the teachers to try and make a plan so that we can get working on this project because the auction is only a few months away from happening.

The Guitar of Andres Segovia

Have you heard of Andres Segovia? This is one special character and music personality. He is regarded as the father of the classical guitar and is considered a major influence on the development in classical music in general. When playing the guitar live, he had quite a hypnotizing effect on the audience and one felt transcended into another place. Here you can take a look at a very intimate film on Andres Segovia made by a master film maker. In this documentary film, Andres Segovia talks about his life, about the influences he had in life and in music and about his love of the guitar, which he consideres the greatest musical instrument.

Don’t Ignore Your Education If You Want To Become A Fashion Designer

Fashion design has always been  and continues to be a very popular career choice.  Many art colleges are often oversubscribed in the field of fashion design.  Many of the great designers of the twentieth century had little or no formal training , but this is no longer the case.   Very few today can succeed in this field without formal preparation.  A degree is a must as it is very difficult to enter the industry without the minimum of this level of education.  Graduates  from a fashion design background have shown , via surveys, to earn on average twenty-five to thirty per cent more than those without a degree or any form of formal qualification.  Whilst formal education cannot guarantee success it does provide a thorough and compatible training background to fashion.
